Feedback on the resignation of inventive director Pelham (Pat) Pearce

Pelham (Pat) Pearce, the longtime inventive director of Central Metropolis Opera, introduced his resignation from the corporate yesterday (June 17). His departure, after greater than 26 years with Central Metropolis Opera, seems to have been sudden, because it was first introduced by Pearce early within the morning on his private Fb web page.

As we speak (June 18) the co-chairs of the corporate launched the next assertion:

We needed share the information that Pelham “Pat” Pearce has determined to step down from his position as Creative Director of Central Metropolis Opera. Pat’s 26+ years have been important to who Central Metropolis Opera is and the very fact we’re celebrating our ninetieth Anniversary this yr. He has been a visionary and shall be missed.

Pat has accomplished a superb job of making ready for this yr’s Summer season Competition and has a terrific group in place. We now have confidence that our administrators, artists and technicians have the experience to place Pat’s imaginative and prescient on stage and look ahead to seeing their fantastic work come to fruition.

We rejoice and thank Pat for his large work and the essential legacy he has left on Central Metropolis Opera and the entire trade.

The announcement comes solely two weeks earlier than the opening of the corporate’s 2022 summer time season. There was no announcement if or when Pearce would get replaced in his position as inventive director. The corporate employed Pamela Pantos as president and chief govt officer of the corporate in February.
