Curtis Institute of Music Appoints 4 to Composition College


 

The composition college on the Curtis Institute of Music will increase by 4 starting within the 2022–23 faculty 12 months.

Mr. DiBerardino, Dr. Holland, Dr. Kirsten, and Dr. Mackey will work with Curtis college students by particular person classes, teaching, and seminars. A Rhodes Scholar, Nick DiBerardino has beforehand served as lead teacher of musical research, composition coordinator, and administrator for Curtis’s Younger Artist Summer season Program. He has held residencies on the Intimacy of Creativity Pageant on the Hong Kong College of Science and Know-how, Avaloch Farm Music Institute, and Hidden Valley, the place he’s a founding college member of the Rising Composers Intensive.

Jonathan Bailey Holland was first-ever composer-in-residence with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and has held related positions with the South Bend Symphony, Detroit Symphony, Ritz Chamber Gamers, and the Radius Ensemble. His accolades embrace these from the Guggenheim Basis, The Boston Basis, Civitella Ranieri Basis, Massachusetts Cultural Council, Fromm Basis at Harvard College, American Academy of Arts & Letters, American Music Middle, ASCAP, and the Presser Basis.

Amy Beth Kirsten is a composer, poet, filmmaker, vocalist, and director, identified for her multi-year multimedia theatrical collaborations. She has obtained fellowships from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, John S. Guggenheim Basis, and the Rockefeller Basis. Director of the Artist Residency at Longy College of Music of Bard Faculty, she is composer mentor for the Blueprint Fellowship on the Juilliard College and has held earlier educating posts at Oberlin Faculty and Conservatory and the Peabody Institute in Baltimore.

Steven Mackey served as professor of music at Princeton College for the previous 35 years and has gained a number of awards from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and a Kennedy Middle Friedheim Award. His earlier works had been impressed by rock guitar music, like Troubadour Songs and Bodily Property. As we speak, Steven Mackey writes for chamber ensemble, orchestra, dance, and opera, with a number of works like Dreamhouse and Slide receiving Grammy nominations and awards
