After making her debut with the ensemble in 2020, Gemma New will function the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra’s (NZSO) Creative Advisor and Principal Conductor for 3 years, by means of the 2024 season.

A graduate of the Peabody Institute of Music and the College of Canterbury, New is the recipient of the 2021 Sir George Solti Conducting Award.
