American pianist Sarah Cahill began engaged on The Future is Feminine undertaking in 2018. The Future is Feminine, Vol. 1, ‘In Nature,’ is the primary in a three-volume collection aiming to have fun and spotlight girls composers from the seventeenth century to the current day.
This album will characteristic Anna Bon’s Keyboard Sonata in B minor, Op. 2, No. 5; Fanny Mendelssohn’s 4 Lieder, Op. 8; Teresa Carreño’s Un rêve en mer (A Dream at Sea) – Etude-méditation; and Leokadiya Kashperova’s Au sein de la nature (Within the Midst of Nature).
The repertoire listing continues with Fannie Charles Dillon’s 8 Descriptive Items, Op. 20; Vítězslava Kaprálová’s Dubnová preludia (April Preludes), Op. 13; Agi Jambor’s Piano Sonata: To the Victims of Auschwitz; Eve Beglarian’s Hearth with textual content by Ruth Crawford Seeger; Deirdre Gribbin’s Unseen; and Mary D. Watkins’ Summer time Days.
Alongside Vols. 2 and three of the collection, which shall be launched later within the 12 months, the collection will comprise over 70 compositions by girls globally, together with many premiere recordings.
Composers within the collection will embrace Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre, Maria de Alvear, Galina Ustvolskaya, Franghiz Ali-Zadeh, Florence Value, Hannah Kendall, Anna Thorvaldsdottir, Kui Dong, Meredith Monk, amongst many others.
In tandem with this album’s launch is Cahill’s 6-hour free marathon efficiency on March 5 to have fun Worldwide Girls’s Day at London’s Barbican Conservatory – with every hour that includes music by feminine composers from 1707 to the current day.
“‘The Future is Feminine,’ goals to be a corrective in direction of rebalancing the repertoire,” stated Cahill in a press launch. “It doesn’t try and be exhaustive, in any means, and the three albums on this collection signify solely a small fraction of the music by girls which is ready to be carried out and heard,” she continued.
