Described by colleagues as “the musician’s musician,” Italian-born German-American violinist Augustin Hadelich is a recipient of the distinguished Avery Fisher Profession Grant, Borletti-Buitoni Belief Fellowship, and the 2015 Warner Music Prize.
A graduate of The Juilliard College, Augustin is a former first prize winner on the Indianapolis Worldwide Violin Competitors.
In 2016, he was awarded the Grammy Award for the “Greatest Classical Instrumental Solo,” for his recording of Dutilleux’s Violin Concerto with Ludovic Morlot and the Seattle Symphony Orchestra — and he was honored by Musical America because the 2018 “Instrumentalist of the 12 months.”
Augustin’s latest launch on Warner Classics, “Bach Sonatas & Partitas,” has been nominated for the 2022 Grammy Awards.
Highlights this season embody solo engagements with the San Francisco Symphony, New York Philharmonic, NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, Orchestre Nationwide de France, Prague Radio Symphony Warsaw Philharmonic, Danish Nationwide Orchestra, Finnish Radio Orchestra, Houston Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, Mozarteumorchester (Salzburg), Munich Philharmonic, Seoul Philharmonic, St. Louis Symphony, and WDR Orchestra in addition to his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic.
Augustin at present performs on the 1744 “Leduc, ex-Szeryng” Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù — generously loaned by a patron by means of the Tarisio Belief.
In June of this previous yr, Augustin was appointed to the violin school of Connecticut’s Yale College of Music.
Augustin will open the second season of The Violin Channel Vanguard Concert events this yr.
