American composer Lisa Bielawa’s Violin Concerto titled Sanctuary is a three-movement violin concerto and is the fifth concerto work to be commissioned for “The New American Concerto” venture, which Koh launched in 2017.
Additionally co-commissioned by Carnegie Corridor, this piece examines the multi-layered and culturally charged that means of the phrase “sanctuary” inside the American consciousness. Koh gave the world premiere of Sanctuary in 2020 with the Orlando Philharmonic as co-commissioner.

Her music has been premiered on the NY PHIL BIENNIAL, Lincoln Middle, Carnegie Corridor, The Kennedy Middle, SHIFT Competition, Naumburg Orchestral Concert events, Nationwide Cathedral, Rouen Opera, MAXXI Museum in Rome, and Helsinki Music Middle, amongst others.
