Violist Steps Down from VC Artist Dover Quartet

Violist Milena Pajaro-van de Stadt will depart from VC Artist Dover Quartet on the finish of its summer time season. A brand new violist for the string quartet is but to be introduced. 

Milena has performed with the Dover Quartet since its inception in 2008 on the Curtis Institute of Music (CIM), the place the quartet was lately named its Penelope P. Watkins Ensemble in Residence.

She has appeared as a soloist with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Jacksonville Symphony, and Sphinx Chamber Orchestra; carried out internationally, together with an acclaimed 2011 debut recital at London’s Wigmore Corridor; and has served on the juries of the Sphinx Competitors and the Banff Worldwide String Quartet Competitors.

Her many accolades embody first prize on the Lionel Tertis Worldwide Viola Competitors and high prizes on the Tokyo Worldwide Viola Competitors and the Sphinx Competitors. Moreover, Milena holds a instructing place at Northwestern College’s Bienen Faculty of Music and joined the CIM school in 2020.

Milena started her music research on violin, studying with Sergiu Schwartz and Melissa Pierson-Barrett. She later began viola research with Michael Klotz in 2005. A graduate of CIM and Rice College’s Shepherd Faculty of Music, Milena’s mentors have included Roberto Díaz, Michael Tree, Misha Amory, Joseph de Pasquale, and James Dunham, with whom she studied for her grasp’s diploma in string quartet efficiency as a Dover Quartet member.
