Younger Finnish Conductor to Substitute Gergiev in Rotterdam

The Rotterdam Philharmonic has made the choice to swap out Valery Gergiev with Tarmo Peltokoski in a live performance with star pianist Yuja Wang.

This live performance, on Might 19, 2022, marks the tip of Wang’s artist residency with the orchestra and can see her performing two main Rachmaninov works: his First Piano Concerto and Paganini Rhapsody. These can be adopted by the Second Symphony of Sibelius.

Peltokoski is at present the Principal Visitor Conductor of The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and is the primary conductor to carry this place within the orchestra’s 42-year historical past.

Peltokoski started his research with professor emeritus Jorma Panula on the age of 14 and is now learning with Sakari Oramo on the Sibelius Academy. His different lecturers embrace Hannu Lintu and Jukka-Pekka Saraste.
